Day 4, 5, and 6 (sorry I'm behind)

I'm way behind on this journal thing but I'm doing better than I did last time right?

Anyway. Thursday and Friday were really fun days. On Thursday Tony, our tour guide from Monday took us out to Dover, and Canturberry. It was really fun. I got to take some cool pics of the castle and of the chaple at Canturberry. The trip included a boat ride on the English Channel. After we got back into London a bunch of us headed to a fish and chip shop where everyone but me and one other person ate Kebab. I'm not a huge fan of Kebab but everyone else seems to love it.

Since we did the Tower of London on Wednesday that made Friday completely free. We all kind of slept late and then just spent the day exploring. We went to several galleries, including the Museum of natural history where we saw some really cool dinosours. I'm still working on getting those pictures uploaded. It takes a while here for some reason. We also went to an art gallery and the science museum. Then we went to Soho where we explored. I wonder if stumbling into an inappropriate shop would count as a culture point? We also ate the most amazing Thai food. It was sooo yummy. I had char grilled beef and rose apple stir fry. We are going back on Monday night (that would be tonight).

Now saturday I was really mad because we got on the tube and I realized that I forgot my stupid camera. Therefore I got no pictures of St. Pauls Cathedral, The Millenium Bridge, or the Tate Modern. Oh well I'll just hijack someone elses photos when we get back home.

I'll get you more pictures tonight!

Day 3 (FINALLY!)

Ok so I've been having trouble with my blogger account for some reason but finally it's time for updates!.

I left you with my excited rant about the awesomness that was the musical "We will Rock You". Again I must tell you that it was absolutely amazing!!! But let's backtrack a bit to the beginning of Wednesday.

On Wednesday we started off with a trip to westminster abby. It is a beautiful church where all of the monarchs are coronated and where Princess Diana's funeral was held. Unfortunately they do not allow photographs in most churchs in the UK. It is a respect thing. The gents are required to removed their hats and all cell phones must be turned off. Even though I don't share the Anglican beliefs it was very cool to be there when the moment of prayer occured. I thoroughly enjoy touring churches and cathedrals.

Next we were suppose to get to tour parliament (Big Ben) however the day before that the speaker of the house resigned because a vote of no confidence had occurred. It was also Wednesday which is question and answer day for the Prime Minister (Gordon Brown). That meant that the line was INCREDIBLY long to get in and all British citizens that want to get in are automatically moved to the front of the line so therefore all of us tourists were just out of luck. However we walked to 10 downing street which is the equivalent of our White House and got their just in time to see the chaos that was Gordon Brown leaving to go to the question and answer session of parliament.

Since our parliament tour got canceled we took a liesurley lunch in leicester square. We ate at this nice little Italian shop or at least some of us did. Right before that we got our show tickets. After that the trip supervisors decided to do a river boat cruise with us and take us to the tower of London. The Tower of London tour was suppose to happen Friday. We are kind of glad it happened that way though because that gives us all an extra free day!

So over all it was a great day. At about 5 Zack and I came back to the apartments and I had a little scare. I thought I had dropped my tickets but I just forgot where I put them so zack was griping at me like he always does. Then we went to the theater and were about to go in the doors and Zack realized "OH NO!" He had left his ticket on the kitchen table in the apartment!! I felt bad for him but it was funny. I went on in and met the professor that had decided to see the show with us and he ran halfway across London and back in 35 minutes so he only missed the first song of the show.

Anyway here are a few pictures from wednesday. I couldn't take a whole lot because some of the places we went didn't allow photography but I got some.

I'm also uploading a video of a Yeoman who gave us a tour of London tower. He was really entertaining.

I'll update on Thursday and Friday next.

Any Queen fans in the house? (London Day 3)

Ok so I had a WONDERFUL day! I'm still working on getting pictures ready to post so I'll do a second post later with pics of the day. I just wanted to write and say I just saw the most amazing musical EVER! It was a tribute to Queen (the band not the queen of England lol) and well I'm a major Queen fan. I'll tell you all about it later but just know that "We Will Rock You" is an AWESOME musical!!!!

Day 2 in London

Today was so fun! I got PLENTY of sleep last night (almost 10 hours)! It's been a busy day though. We started off going to the British Library where we saw a lot of old documents from British History including the Magna Carta, and actual hand written songs from the Beatles!

Then we took the tube and went over to the British Museum. We had an hour or so before we had to meet up with our group so we went and had lunch in a little cafe. After the Museum (which was basically a history of the entire world) free time started so Me, Zack, Buford, Jessica, Eric, Errin, and Jeff all headed off to southbank where we saw the London Eye (We haven't rode it yet but we will tomorrow), went on a river cruise, went through a free art exhibit that was actually pretty cool and went to an aquarium. We also had dinner in a little pub that seemed to cater to the after work crowd because everyone there was in suits and business clothes.

It has been a great day so far. It's about 20 minutes til nine and we are about to go out and eat AGAIN at a place called Angel Pub. We are celebrating Justins Birthday.

I'm gonna try and put up some pictures really fast before we have to leave.

Just got in a couple hours ago and I've been hanging out in the apartment with friends. We have another long and lovely day planned for tomorrow including a visit to Westminster Abbey, Parliament, some kind of walking tour, SoHo, Liecester Square and a musical yay! Talk to y'all tomorrow!

Ok I just thought this was funny. It was on the menu of the place we ate lunch at.

Changing of the Guard video (Day 1 cont.)

Here is the video that I promised you.

Day 1 in London

Stonehenge

Hey guys!!!

Well I'm sitting in the apartment here in london and I'm having a great time already! Our flight got delayed in little rock yesterday but it wasn't too big of a deal we still got here! The flight was long but I slept through most of it. When we got here there was a tour guide waiting on us holding up a sign that said Arkansas but he had it spelled wrong! I wish I would have taken a picture lol. He took us out to Windsor castle as well as out to Stonehenge. I loved stonehenge! I'm in the process of uploading a video of part of the changing of the guard ceremony outside of Windsor castle hopefully it will be done by the time I'm finished telling you about my day.

Even though I slept on the plane and the bus ride out to stonehenge I'm still EXHAUSTED! I'm so ready for sleep! We got to the apartments around 6:00 PM. They are cool two bedroom, two bath apartments with a full kitchen and a living room. After we got here I unpacked everything and then took a shower which made me feel about 10 times better then we went and ate at a little fish and chips shop. It wasn't the greatest but it was food. Tomorrow we are going to the British Museum and the British library. It should be awesome. Anyway I think I'm going to go visit with my roommates for a few minutes then crawl into bed for a much needed long nights sleep! It's about 10:00 PM here so if you're reading from Arkansas or the central time zone it's only 4:00PM and it's about 2:00 PM on the west coast.

Here are a few pictures of my day.

P.S. as soon as it finishes processing I'll put up the video I was talking about!

Countdown to the Flight!

Well it is currently 3:00 AM in the U.S. and I am sitting in Conway Arkansas waiting to go to the airport. Sure my plane doesn't leave for another 12 hours but I'm ready just the same. This is where I will keep my daily journal for this class. I'm taking this trip to London as a field study and I'm getting credit for it so there has to be a little bit of work. By keeping my journal this way I'll actually keep a daily journal like I'm suppose to and you all will get to see everything that is going on with me in London! Hope you enjoy it!
